Osteria La Cala
When entering Osteria La Cala guests are welcomed into an elegant, refined and comfortable atmosphere but at the same time also warm and cosy. This restaurant is situated in the centre of Milan in the Porta Romana area very close to Piazza V Giornate and the Duomo cathedral. It has a long experience of over 20 years, has been recently renovated internally and is staffed by a competent and very highly qualified staff who are ready to satisfy their customer’s needs.
The inside walls are made of stone and brick, brightly coloured with touches of blue and green. Here we can find the gift of the artist Rodolfo Viola: his prestigious marine portraits which remind us of the personality of this restaurant, its cuisine, and its land… Sardinia. The tables – with a total of 70 seats – are set with fine linen, beige and sand colours, along with wine glasses, glasses and shiny cutlery.
The innovative style, research and contemporaneity mix well with the authentic traditional Sardinian values and chef Michele’s recommendations. Every creation is carefully prepared with fresh and highly selected food in order for the genuine taste to come through. The dishes are presented in great detail with imagination and creative inspiration.

Seafood starters
The meal begins with seafood starters, delicious and appetizing: red prawns, scampi, oysters, muscle and clam soup, octopus with potatoes, fried gianchetti (whitebait) pancakes.
First courses
The first course is also exceptional, refined and classy: risotto with seafood, linguine pasta with lobster, paccheri pasta with scorpion fish, taglioni pasta with Mazara red prawn, tagliolini pasta with scampi and squash flowers in squid ink sauce, ravioli with sea bass – a special La Cala dish.

Sardinian dishes
Of course we cannot leave out the typical Sardinian dishes: prawns Catalan style, celery and bottarga(dried fish eggs), culurgiones (pasta stuffed with potatoes and pecorino cheese), Sardinian gnocchetti pasta, fregula with seafood sauce (Sardinian pasta made with semolina and water) , lorighitas pasta with calamari and bottarga(dried fish eggs), spaghetti with bottarga(grated dried fish eggs), Sardinian croaker with vernaccia and grated bottarga (dried fish eggs).
Recommendations
We must also point out the recommendations of the restaurant: special scallops, rolled kale marinara style with vegetable cream sauce, maccheroni with sea urchin and clams, tuna tartar alla Cala, esotic yellowtail tartar, salmon tartar with pink peppercorn, Mazara carpaccio with red prawns and citrus fruit, risotto with robiola (soft cheese), red prawns and artichokes. Upon request: you can order a Sardinian suckling pig for a minimun of 4-6 people.

Second courses
The delicious second course: mixed fried fish, sea bass with salt, turbot (flat fish) with vernaccia, fish cut of your choice, lobster Catalan style, slices of tuna fillet with pistachio, mixed grilled fish au gratin, selection of fresh fish, sea bream with lemon and green pepper sauce. We also have a selection of meat: selected beef tagliata, grilled Sirlion steak that can be accompanied by potatoes, salad and grilled vegetables.
Desserts e Wines
home-made cakes, lemon sorbet, fresh fruit sorbet, seadas (fried Sardinian pastry filled with cheese and topped with honey or sugar), fresh seasonal fruit. We must also remind you of our wine list: champagne; white, red and rosé wines and sweet wines – with one or two proposals from each region in order to honor the Italian excellence but we also have some selected international wines from Argentina and South Africa.
